An-Najah National University conducted a distinguished training workshop on Monday, October 7, 2024, as part of the EdviCon project at the An-Najah Innovation Park. The workshop targeted a group of academics and technicians from several Palestinian universities, as well as a number of professionals from the governmental education sector. The training focused on developing e-learning skills using mobile video system tools, as well as studying the role of mobile video conferencing systems in digital transformation within higher education institutions.
The EdviCon project aims to enable participants to leverage advanced imaging technology through mobile phones and portable video devices, allowing them to produce high-quality visual content in a creative and cost-effective manner.
The session was opened by Mr. Alaa Nasser, the session moderator, who welcomed the participants. Dr. Saed Al-Khayyat, Director of the Center for Grants and International Projects at the university, spoke about the role of the center in developing the capacities of colleagues at the university and enhancing its infrastructure. He also emphasized the importance of networking between Palestinian higher education institutions and global academic institutions. Additionally, he discussed the significance of virtual and distance learning, the necessity of establishing clear policies for distance education, and developing tools that align with emerging technologies to balance educational content quality and modern teaching methods.
Dr. Khaled Saifuddin, the project director from the Technical University of Denmark, discussed the importance of the project and its role in developing a mobile video system capable of overcoming technical difficulties and infrastructure challenges to ensure the continuity of the educational process.
Dr. Suhail Salha reviewed the project’s key stages, which included studies, individual meetings, and working groups, as well as producing a series of scientific research related to the project. He also led a session on scenarios for employing video conferencing in digital transformation.
The workshop included practical and hands-on sessions supervised by the project team from the university, providing participants with the opportunity to apply what they learned in an interactive and creative environment.
It is noteworthy that An-Najah National University is the sole Palestinian and Arab partner in the project. The EdviCon project, which lasted for three years, is one of the Erasmus+ projects funded by the European Union.
